Amino Acid and Vitamin Supply Chain Shortage Update
The Federal Government and specialized trade
groups like the American Feed Industry Association have released an advisory warning of supply chain distruptions for critical amino acids and vitamins used in cell culture media, feed blending, and biopharma manufacturing.
China is the manufacturing powerhouse for the vitamins B1, B3, B7, B12, D3 and K, controlling
approximately 78% of the US supply. In addition, China is the source for 62% of global amino acids, 77% of lysine, 91% of threonine, 84% of valine and 27% of methionine.
If you are a downstream provider or if these
materials are critical to your supply chain, you are likely negotiating larger bulk amounts to bridge inventory or evaluating alternative suppliers. Don’t get caught with noncompliant or unsuitable materials. Reach out to us for information on our standard free amino acid, raw materials identification, and European Pharmacopiea Method 2.2.56 compliant testing progams.
